Working visits and state visits

The Queen spends a lot of time travelling around the country, visiting people and talking to them. So she has a good idea of what’s going on.

The Queen also pays official visits to other countries. When she visits another head of state, these are called state visits. Important people from other countries who come to the Netherlands often visit the Queen. When foreign heads of state are visiting the Netherlands, they often stay in one of the Queen’s palaces.
