Screen settings

In order to view the website properly, you should use the correct screen settings.

Resolution

The website is designed for a screen resolution of 800x600 pixels. It can also be viewed at higher resolutions. A lower resolution (e.g. 640x480) is not suitable and will produce horizontal and vertical scrolling bars.

You can adjust your screen resolution in Windows. The procedure differs depending on the version you use.

Windows XP

  • Click on ‘Start’ and go to ‘Control Panel’.
  • Double click on ‘Display’.
  • Click on ‘Settings’.
  • You can set the resolution you want under ‘Screen resolution’ (e.g. 800x600 or higher) by using the sliding arrow.
  • Click on ‘Apply’. The resolution will be adjusted and a window will appear asking you whether you want to save the new setting. If you do not save it, the old setting will be restored after 15 seconds.
  • Click on OK.

Windows 2000

  • Click on ‘Start’ and go via ‘Settings’ to ‘Control Panel’.
  • Double click on the ‘Display’ icon.
  • At the bottom right of your screen you will see a sliding arrow under ‘Screen area’. Use it to set the resolution you want (preferably 800x600 or higher).
  • Click on ‘Apply’. A window will appear saying that the resolution will be restored to its former values if it cannot be installed properly.
  • Click on ‘OK’. The resolution will be adjusted and a window will appear in which you can restore it to its former values, or confirm the new settings.

Windows 98 and ME

  • Click on ‘Start’ and go via ‘Settings’ to ‘Control Panel’.
  • Double click on the ‘Display’ icon.
  • Click on ‘Settings’.
  • You will see a sliding arrow to the bottom right under ‘Screen area’. Use it to set the resolution you want (preferably 800x600 or higher).
  • Click on ‘Apply’. A window will appear telling you that the resolution will be restored to its former values if the new values cannot be installed properly.
  • Click on ‘OK’. The resolution will be adjusted and a window will appear telling you that you can restore the former values or confirm the new ones.

NB. Your monitor may not support all the resolutions you can select. The latest TFT monitors have a recommended resolution. Using a different one will affect the quality of the picture. So take care when adapting it.

Colours

For an optimum reproduction of the photographs and the Virtual Tour, you will need ‘high colours, 16 bits’ or preferably ‘true colours, 32 bits’.

The colour settings can be changed in the same window as for screen resolution (see above).
