President of the Council of State

The Queen is president of the Council of State, which in practice is presided over by its vice-president. The Council of State advises the government and Parliament about legislation and serves as the highest court in administrative law disputes.

As well as the Queen, other members of the Royal House may be members of the Council of State. Prince Willem-Alexander and Princess Máxima are currently members, although they may not vote.
