Signing Acts of Parliament
The Constitution lays down that all bills, once they have been passed by Parliament, must be signed by both the Queen and the responsible minister.
By signing, the minister accepts constitutional responsibility for the bill’s contents. Only once the Queen and the minister have signed a bill does it become an Act of Parliament. Royal Decrees must also be signed by both the Queen and the responsible minister.
