Mayor of Amsterdam


The civil marriage ceremony in the Beurs van Berlage was conducted by the Mayor of Amsterdam, Job Cohen.

After completing his law studies, Job Cohen worked at Leiden University and Maastricht University. Between 1991 and 1993 and between 1995 and 1998 he was Rector Magnificus of Maastricht University. In 1993-1994 he was State Secretary for Education and Science; in 1995-1998 he was a member of the Labour Party (PvdA) in the Upper House of the States-General, since mid-1996 as party chairman. From February to August 1998 he was interim director of the broadcasting organisation VPRO. From 1998-2000 he was State Secretary for Justice. He has been Mayor of Amsterdam since January 2000.
