Prince of Orange and Máxima Zorreguieta presented with wedding stamps, Wednesday 9 January

On Wednesday 9 January at Noordeinde Palace in The Hague, His Royal Highness the Prince of Orange and Miss Máxima Zorreguieta were presented with the first two postage stamps commemorating their wedding. The stamps were designed by Mevis and Van Deursen of Amsterdam.

The stamps are based on two portraits commissioned by PTT Post. Swathes of colour on the stamps represent the Dutch red, white and blue tricolour and an orange pennon. The figures 2 –2 –2 are a reference to the wedding date. Both stamps have a face value of 39 cents. The total print run is 1½ million.

The commemorative stamps will be available from post offices and via the website www.postshop.nl from 10 January.
