Prince of Orange and Ms Máxima Zorreguieta strike euro coin on occasion of their marriage

His Royal Highness the Prince of Orange and Ms Máxima Zorreguieta will be striking the first Dutch euro coin at the Royal Dutch Mint in Utrecht on Monday 28 January. The coin is being produced on the occasion of their marriage. The euro coin has a value of ten euros and has been designed by the artist Hans van Houwelingen.

The obverse of the marriage coin shows Queen Beatrix. On the reverse Van Houwelingen has made a double portrait of the Prince of Orange and Ms Zorreguieta.

The coin is being issued in a limited edition of one million and, in line with the European agreements concerning the issue of special euro coins, will be legal tender in the Netherlands only. Apart from the circulation edition of the marriage coin, silver and gold coins will also be struck for collectors.

The marriage coins will be on sale at post offices from 4 February onwards.
